Some performers have the ability to transport an audience to a different place and time. This happened for me April 4th at Dakota Jazz Club when veteran entertainer Freddy Cole used his unique voice, vintage songs and commanding presence to recreate a sense of what it must have felt like to pop in on the 1950's Jazz scene in Chicago. Although not as well known as older brother Nat King Cole or niece Natalie Cole, his performance Tuesday evening ranks him as equally "Unforgettable".

At 85 years old, he still has great feel and touch on the 88-keys and although there are occasional similarities in voice to his brother, Cole has his own charming style that stands firmly on its own. His impressive touring band, particularly guitarist Randy Napolean, really contribute in making this a first class show and a must see rare opportunity for music appreciators.
