BASILICA BLOCK PARTY
ANNUAL 2-DAY MUSIC FESTIVAL
JULY 7 & 8, 2017

Every year I look forward to Cities 97’s line-up announcement for Basilica Block Party, which has become an important fixture in the Twin Cities summer outdoor concert season. I was particularly curious to see who was on-board for 2017 considering the large number of concerts that had already been announced for summer. I was pleased to see what they assembled and feel it speaks very well to the audience this event attracts. One welcome change compared to many past seasons is that the weather was very nice for both nights, which assisted in creating an overall fun vibe.
Gates opened at 5:00pm both nights and the music got underway almost immediately with really no down-time for those surfing between the three stages. While the Great Clips Stage hosts the biggest acts and includes an attractive city view, the PreferredOne Stage has great ambiance in front of the Basilica and has produced a lot of great music moments. The Star Tribune Stage is also an important part of this event as it has become a good place to take-in some legit artists in our local scene.
